Lianyuan, a small city in Southern China where SANY was birthed, is now being taken care of by her grown-up child, as SANY Foundation is taking steps to make the city a better place.  

Liang Wengen, the founder of SANY and a self-made billionaire, was born in this formerly poor county and belonged to a low-income peasant family. In 1986, he established Lianyuan Maotang Welding Materials Factory with his friends Yuan Jinhua, Mao Zhongwu and Tang Xiuguo. With decades of cultivation, this business that began in a garage has finally grown into a world-famous heavy equipment giant.

Since the beginning of 2022, SANY has donated over 2 million RMB to Lianyuan for the improvement of local infrastructure and the alleviation of poverty among local elderly people, underprivileged students and people with disabilities.

Aiming to create change at a more fundamental level, SANY founded a primary school in Lianyuan. In 2022, an additional investment of 4.44 million RMB from SANY Foundation was used to improve teaching facilities, the campus environment and explore new teaching methods such as tinkering education. Moreover, SANY Foundation promised to allocate 4 million RMB each year over the next decade to further the effort.     

Looking beyond this small city of special significance to SANY, we can see SANY’s benevolence is casting light on the larger population. Earlier in 2022, SANY announced a plan to invest 10 million RMB to support the development of solar lighting in impoverished areas around the world without electricity.
