São Paulo, one of the largest metropolises in the world, is about to make a significant leap in its transport infrastructure with the conclusion of Subway Line 17 Gold. Designed to connect strategic areas of the city, this monorail line promises to revolutionize the way São Paulo residents transit from one place to another, connecting Congonhas Airport to the Morumbi neighborhood, passing through the Jardim Vila Olímpia sports complex and the Morumbi stadium.
Construction of Line 17 began in 2012, but it has faced a number of challenges over the years, including financial, political, and technical issues. Initially, it was scheduled to be delivered before the 2014 World Cup, but due to delays and revisions in the project, the schedule was significantly modified. Its strategic importance in alleviating congestion on the city's main thoroughfares and providing a fast and efficient transportation option for millions of passengers justifies the ongoing efforts to complete it.
Unlike traditional systems, the choice of the monorail for Line 17 Gold not only reduces the environmental impact, but also optimizes the urban space. With high-tech technology, this system promises not only connectivity but also comfort to passengers, making the journey between key destinations such as Congonhas Airport and the Morumbi complex a fluid and efficient experience.
The Mongel company, with more than 40 years of expertise in the cargo handling market, was responsible for several stages of the project, carrying out the operation with SANY All-Terrain Cranes, which played a crucial role in the movement of heavy materials, doing the installation of structures and the assembly of fundamental components of the subway line.
The SANY All Terrain Cranes used in this service were the SAC7000S of 700 tons, the SAC6000C8 of 600 tons, and also the SAC2500S of 250 tons. Being cranes with a large lifting capacity, each of them stood out for its exceptional capabilities: the SAC7000S, with a 90.1 m boom, a 50 m fixed boom, and a 90 m oscillating boom, the SAC6000C8 with a double motor system and a self-erecting truss super lift device, and the SAC2500S with an impressive maximum lifting height of 110.1 m.
Scheduled for delivery in June 2026, Line 17 Gold represents more than a simple transport project. It is a significant step towards the future of sustainable urban mobility in São Paulo.
