07/06/2016

A total of 102 sets of SANY's wind turbines were used in Ethiopia’s Adama Wind Farm, Ethiopia's largest wind power project, with installed capacity of 153 MW and expected to meet 20% of power demand in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. SANY wind turbines are customized to meet customer business needs and provide integrated solutions covering site selection, wind assessment, equipment installation and operation of wind farms. This Adama Wind Farm project marks the largest overseas purchase of Chinese wind turbines.

In May 2016, Sany Heavy Industry President, Xiang Wenbo, and the delegation led by Xu Xiangping, the head of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, met with the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, discussing the cooperation with Ethiopian government in local development initiatives.

The Prime Minister noted that Ethiopia has a stable political environment and broad market prospects in heavy machinery manufacturing. “We welcome SANY and other Chinese enterprises that are innovative and have great production strength to invest in Ethiopia,” he added.

“SANY has forged a strong friendship with Ethiopia from ten years of working together in development,” Xiang Wenbo remarked. “SANY would like to further expand its investment in capacity cooperation, the wind turbine project, and the construction of the Ethiopia–Hunan industrial plant, making an even greater contribution to local economic development.”

With the national strategies of capacity cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative, SANY has been increasing its efforts to go global. Over recent years, 40% of SANY's annual products have been exported to international markets and to date, the number of SANY machines sold amounts to over 12,000 with a sales volume exceeding US $1.52 billion.
