SANY concrete pump showcases \'Made in China\' power in Fukushima rescue work

31/10/2016

The strong earthquake in Fukushima on March 11, 2011 caused the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power station. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) intended to buy a SANY 62-meter truck-mounted concrete pump (valued at nearly $1 million) to pump water and reduce the temperature in the nuclear power station, but SANY was willing to donate the concrete pump and provide the related service.

After intense and rapid preparation, the concrete pump was sent from SANY Changsha Industrial park, located in China’s Hunan province, to Japan’s Osakako Station the next day after TEPCO contacted SANY. At the same time, three SANY engineers with rich experience also went to Japan to give training for the TEPCO’s operators, check the installation of the concrete pump and conduct water pumping test.

On March 31, SANY’s concrete pump officially began to pump water to the Fukushima nuclear power station, which brought good effect with the temperature remarkably declining.

SANY’s charitable action won the widely recognition of the Japanese. “I appreciate SANY’s support on behave of Japanese government.” Japanese ambassador to China said. “SANY’s gratuitous support for relieving Japan’s disaster makes positive contribution for improving the Sino-Japan friendship and demonstrates the strength of “Made in China”, remarked by a Japanese counselor. A Japanese citizen even paid a special visit to SANY’s industrial park in Changsha to show his appreciation.
