Nuo Zhadu hydropower dam project, Asia’s largest and highest clay rock-fill dam involving 13 units of SANY singe drum roller is underway in China’s Yunnan province. The height of the dam is 261.5m and length 630m with a total volume of 260 million cubic meters.
This clay rock-fill dam is the first digital dam with an induction system in every layer. In each clay layer, it is mixed with 30% graded broken stone and a certain amount of water to strengthen its density. If the compaction does not meet the standard requirements, the induction system will send the alarm message.
SANY specially designed the sheepfoot to ensure the compaction of the dam. Compared with the traditional smooth steel wheel, the pressure of the shaped protrusions is much higher since the protrusions’ contact area with the clay is less, which greatly enhances the machine’s compaction ability. After the multiple rolling by the sheepgoat road roller, the common road roller is used to level the ground.
