Excavator Maintenance Guide

2016-07-05

Maintenance work on an excavator must be carried out at regular intervals. Failure to do so will result in excessive wear and early failures. Below are some tips to help keep your excavator in good condition.

1.Keep the slewing drive bearings well lubricated. Apply thread sealant if loose to ensure screws stay tightly fastened.

2.Apply grease to all grease fittings and slewing bearings every 10–15 days. Apply grease at different angles every 4–8 hours twice.

Use anti-wear hydraulic oil. Ensure that the hydraulic oil is clean and does not contain any water. Use hydraulic oil with low viscosity (ISO grade 32 or 46) during cold periods like winter and oil with high viscosity (ISO 68 or 100) during hot periods like summer.

3.Replace reducers for the first time after 520 hours of use, then change them 2–3 times every year after that.

4.Ensure that you preheat the engine for 10–15 minutes before use.

5.Operate at low speed for 10–15 minutes before full operation. Position the arm and bucket perpendicular to the ground and release the pressure in the hydraulic system.

6.Ensure that the oil piping is smooth and that there is no air in the pipe.

7.Clean and replace the air filter regularly.
