Relief Efforts Following Floods in Kazakhstan
24/04/2024

Since early spring, Kazakhstan has faced its worst flood disaster in 80 years triggered by rapid snowmelt and dam breaches, leading to 10 regions in Kazakhstan declaring a state of emergency and approximately 100,000 people being urgently evacuated. In the face of this crisis, a subsidiary of SANY Group in Kazakhstan took prompt action to aid those affected. The company’s employees actively responded by urgently procuring essential supplies on April 23 and delivering them to flood relief centers in Almaty. From there, these supplies were transported to the affected areas to assist the local population. The relief supplies included food, baby products, and daily hygiene items urgently needed by the affected communities, aiming to help them get through this difficult time and provide support.

While purchasing supplies, employees of the Kazakh subsidiary encountered a supermarket worker who, upon learning the purpose of their purchase, expressed sincere gratitude and admiration, stating, “Thank you for your kindness and assistance. This support from Chinese companies is immensely meaningful to the people in our disaster-stricken area, warming the hearts of the Kazakh people”. Motivated by this gratitude, the SANY team in Kazakhstan reiterated their commitment to their role in corporate social responsibility, pledging continued support for the communities affected by the floods.

At the same time, SANY’s equipment played an essential role in the flood response efforts. More than 70 sets of SANY machinery were urgently dispatched by the project department, contributing approximately 20,000 cubic meters of materials for flood defense and road repairs. SANY has consistently worked alongside the Kazakh government to tackle challenges and is committed to helping the Kazakh people overcome this flood disaster as quickly as possible.

This emergency procurement and relief effort not only exemplifies our social commitment but also underscores the determination and beliefs of SANY’s Kazakh subsidiary to actively engage in social welfare endeavors. They remain committed to monitoring the situation and providing ongoing help and support to those affected by the disaster.
