SANY Cranes Participate in the World's Largest LNG Project

Qatar Energy has announced the final cooperation agreement with China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) for the expansion of the North Field East (NFE) in Qatar, marking the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the industry's history. Sinopec, in partnership with SANY Heavy Machinery, showcased three of its large-tonnage crawler cranes at the natural gas project, successfully completing its inaugural lift in June 2023.

The requirements for the Qatar North Field oil and gas project are stringent. Equipment entering the site needs to pass multiple inspections by entities such as TUV and CTJV before being cleared to operate. Additionally, entry demands rigorous medical examinations and complex safety training tests, ensuring both the personnel and equipment meet the highest standards. Currently, very few pieces of equipment have been approved to operate at the site. The inclusion of three of SANY's large-tonnage crawler cranes represents the first time Chinese equipment has gained access to the core area of the oil and gas project, underlining SANY's equipment as being of world-class quality.

The equity partnership for the NFE project will span 27 years, concluding in 2049. Top oil and gas producers are eager to participate in the project because Qatar boasts some of the world's lowest production costs and is among the few countries capable of substantially replacing Russia's natural gas supplies to Europe. This participation implies that, having entered the global top-tier oil and natural gas market, SANY Heavy Machinery will continually supply equipment to the Sino-Qatari oil and gas projects for the next 27 years. Operating under the consistently high temperatures of the Middle East, SANY equipment has demonstrated exceptional stability and efficiency, earning unanimous approval from Middle Eastern clients and affirming the quality of Chinese manufacturing.
