SANY 400t crawler crane building the world\'s third largest mosque in Algeria

One unit of 400t crawler crane, 50t and 75t truck cranes were purchased by China State Construction Engineering Corporation along with many concrete machines for the construction of Algeria's Djamaa El Djazair Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world.

The Great Mosque will cover 20 hectares of land in the Mohammadia area of the capital Algiers, with a 265-meter-high minaret-the world's tallest, accommodating up to 120,000 worshippers upon completion. SANY truck cranes and crawler crane are mainly responsible for the lifting and transportation of large concrete or steel structure, installation of tubes, boards, beams and domes.

The 400t crawler crane SCC4000 particularly delivered outstanding performance in the construction of the main pray hall. With 84m full-extended boom, 30m superlift mast, 63m luffing jib, 87m+9m fixed jib, SCC4000 crawler crane is capable of supporting up to 11 kinds of freely-combined operating conditions. This flexible configuration enables the crawler crane to meet various requirements on the worksite, which can significantly save the costs and increase working efficiency for the customer.

The 400t crawler crane completed the installation of the prayer hall's dome with high stability and lifting power, and the customer spoke high of it. In the construction of such a major project, crane safety and stability is of great importance. SCC4000 crawler crane adopts a large chassis design with a 7.6-meter gauge, ensuring excellent stability within the range of 360°rotation. Crane safety can be assured with the support of reliable hydraulics, intelligent control technologies, and multiple safety devices such as load moment limiter, emergency stop button, and anti-lightning protection.

STC500 truck crane with maximum lifting capacity of 50t and STC750 truck crane with maximum lifting capacity of 75t were also used in the construction of the Great Mosque. Compared with the big crawler crane, the truck cranes are more flexible and mobile on site as they can travel easily from one place to another. Meanwhile, the truck cranes adopt tipping over early-warning technology to ensure a safe and stable crane operation. Maximum gradeability of STC500 truck crane is 40% and that of STC750 truck crane is 37%, providing excellent trafficability.
