Sany Wins National Science and Technology Award

The National Science and Technology Award-Giving Conference 2014 was held by the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council on the morning of Jan 9 in Beijing. President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, First-ranked Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Liu Yunshan, and Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli attended the conference to give out the awards. The project “Key Parts of High Flow Hydraulic System of High Speed Heavy Duty Construction Machinery” of Sany Group won second prize of the National Science and Technology Innovation Award of year 2014. Sany was the only member of the construction machinery industry to be conferred this award this year. The Chief Engineer Yi Xiaogang of Sany Group represented Sany to receive the award.

Mr. Yi Xiaogang said high speed heavy construction machinery is key equipment for constructing major strategic facilities of the nation. China had to rely on imported equipment for building the Three Gorges Dam, the Mount Qin Tunnel, and nuclear power stations before this research project was completed by Sany. With this technology Sany has successfully developed 53 models of buffer cylinders, 34 models of integrated hydraulic valve boxes, and four models of high-pressure piston pumps. They have completely replaced the roles played by comparable imported products. 

Testing conducted by the National Construction Machinery Quality Supervision and Testing Center reveals that the productivity of a concrete pump is raised by 17% when equipped with that technology. The world’s first non-de-coupled hydraulic cylinder compactor developed by Sany adopted this technology, which  helps solve the problem of having high speed hydraulic cylinder driving and the high speed buffering of the great compaction energy at the same time when  the 40-ton compaction hammer free falls from the 20-meter height.

Currently, the award-winning technology has been commercialized and large-scale research and manufacturing bases have been built. In the meantime, products what have adopted the technology have been exported to 47 countries and regions including the US, Germany, and Russia.

As a leading enterprise for equipment manufacturing in China, Sany has kept turning innovation into its core competitive capability and making new breakthroughs in innovation in the field of construction machinery. It has won multiple national top science and technology awards. This has been the second time Sany has been awarded a second prize for national science and technology innovation and the fifth time been conferred national science and technology awards.

The National Science and Technology Award-Giving Conference is a technology conference at which the award winners are awarded in the name of the state. So far the conference has giving out five categories of awards: the National Highest Science and Technology Award, the National Natural Science Award, National Science and Technology Innovation Award, the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
