Forklift truck is the most useful lifting equipment you can have to move heavy-duty loads in a storage yard, large warehouse or on a construction sites. To choose the right forklift from a wide selection of styles, you need to know how every forklift fits for specific working environment.

Counterbalance forklift trucks

Counterbalance forklift trucks are the most commonly used type of forklifts, and the standard type most people would think of when thinking of forklifts. Internal combustion and electric counterbalance forklift trucks are available in today's marketplace, designed with a counterbalance weight into the rear of the forklift's body to offset the load to be lifted at the front. The counterbalance can be an actual weight as ballast or the forklift batteries built in an electric forklift truck.

Counterbalance forklift trucks are also available in different configurations. Four wheel models are ideal for outdoor or rough terrain applications with the greatest weight capacities, while three wheel models are perfect for use in limited space thanks to their maximum maneuverability and smaller turning radius. The three wheel counterbalance forklifts are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Moreover, equipped with special attachments like spreader, bucket, coil ram, the forklift trucks can handle all kinds of materials including container, wood, steel, etc.

Reach trucks

Reach trucks are a type of forklifts particularly designed for warehouse operation. It is compact in structure with no need of counterbalance as its stabilizing legs and built-in batteries are capable of offsetting the loads at the front. As the name suggests, the reach truck's fork can reach out beyond the stabilizing legs and reach into racking, which offer maximum lift height while still operate flexibly in narrow warehouse aisles. However, considering the low carriage design, the reach truck is not ideal for outdoor operation or run on uneven ground surfaces.

Pallet trucks

Pallet truck is a type of forklift designed to have the operator walk behind the truck. There are hand pallet trucks and electric pallet trucks for your choice. Electric pallet truck is motorized and controlled by the operator using a hand throttle to move it forward and reverse. The operator slides the forks into the pallet, then the lifting of the load and truck movement is powered by the electric motor within the machine, while on a hand pallet truck, all the operation is via the handle. The pallet trucks operate best on flat and smooth surfaces.

As the name suggests, sideloader is a type of forklift trucks that allow the operator to pick up their wide or long load from the side. The sideloader forklift is ideal for handling long and bulky loads such as pipes, tubing, and plywood sheets in narrow aisles with high stacking capacity. Sit-down models with a cab are used for outdoor applications, while stand-up models are more suitable for indoor operation.
