Sany Expands in Brazil as Rio Olympics Construction Continues

27/06/2016

Sany Heavy Industry continues to expand its presence in Brazil as large-scale stadium and transportation construction create explosive demand for construction machinery.

The 2016 Olympic Games are planned to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 5 to 21 August. Infrastructure preparation and construction already began early 2010 as Brazil had also won the bid to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Sany equipment has been used on several major construction projects around the country for the 2016 Olympics. The famous Maracanã Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics will be held, was renovated in 2013 and a range of Sany machinery including hydraulic excavators, truck cranes, concrete pumps, and rollers were used. Sany's 32-meter and 43-meter concrete pumps ran for 12 consecutive hours on site, pumping concrete with maximum efficiency and zero failure.

Other infrastructure construction projects in Brazil where Sany machinery has been used include the Olympic Sports Center, Olympic Village, Manaus Airport, and São Paulo Ring Road constructions. Sany cranes and excavators worked on the Mané Garrincha National Stadium renovation in Brasília, the Arena Pantanal renovation in Cuiabá as well as the Arena Castelão in Fortaleza in preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Sany's Brazilian-market sales have continued to grow, standing at $158 million (1.05 billion yuan) in 2012 compared to $30 million (200 million yuan) in 2010. By 2012, Sany was already holding over 30% market share for cranes in Brazil and had doubled its excavator market share to 5%.

Offering high-performance machinery at competitive prices and providing comprehensive after-sales services has helped Sany gain great traction in the Brazilian market. In addition, the company's strong commitment to research and development has meant that it has worked to innovate and deliver products that were in line with local demands. Before major investment in the country, Sany conducted extensive research on capacity, design, and local policies and client preferences to ensure that it aligned itself perfectly to the market.

Since its establishment in 2007, Sany Brazil has built a strong dealership network that provides products and after-sales services throughout the country. Sany cranes, excavators and rollers have been well-received by local customers and have now gone on to make their mark in major construction projects across Brazil in preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
