More than 100 units of Sany construction machinery have been used in the ongoing construction of the Mombasa–Nairobi Railway Project in Kenya. The 480-kilometer railway will connect Kenya’s capital Nairobi to the largest port in East Africa, Port of Mombasa.
The construction is estimated to cost US$3.8 billion and to be completed by 2017. As the biggest infrastructure project in Kenya since its independence in 1963, this project is expected to increase the country’s GDP by 1.5%, and boost its economic and social development.
China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the project’s main contractor, has used more than 100 units of Sany machinery valued at over US$15 million. Sany equipment used on the project includes concrete pumps, truck mixers, cranes, excavators and various road machines.
