The construction is estimated to cost US$3.8 billion and to be completed by 2017. As the biggest infrastructure project in Kenya since its independence in 1963, this project is expected to increase the country’s GDP by 1.5%, and boost its economic and social development.

China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the project’s main contractor, has used more than 100 units of Sany machinery valued at over US$15 million. Sany equipment used on the project includes concrete pumps, truck mixers, cranes, excavators and various road machines.

To ensure that the project ran on schedule with no machinery faults, Sany service engineers provided round-the-clock service support. Their commitment on and off site was praised by the local customers, who then gave them an “Excellent After-Sales Service” award.

The Mombasa–Nairobi Railway Project has been lauded as a good example of cooperation between China and African countries, and had a delegation of 13 ambassadors and diplomats from different African nations visiting the site on August 16.
