Unique Engineering and Construction has been actively involved in a number of key urban infrastructure construction projects in Thailand. In May, 2013, Unique signed a strategic cooperation agreement with SANY Group and purchased 170 SANY machines that included truck cranes, excavators, rotary drills, rollers, motor graders, batching plants and concrete mixers. This has been Thailand’s largest construction machinery purchase to date.
The total amount of the contract for the Bangsue Railway Station was $1 billion and it will start in May, 2013, estimated to be completed by May, 2017. This project is part of Thailand's impressive 90 billion dollar infrastructure investment program.
The railway station will be connected to existing subway lines. Light rail routes and suburban railroads will connect to Bangkok and the future China–Laos–Thailand–Singapore high-speed rail. Bangsue Railway Station will serve as Thailand’s new main national railway station. It will replace the existing Hua Lumphong Railway Station, which will be turned into a museum.
Due to a tight construction schedule, all machinery has been operating 24 hours a day, non-stop, making machine quality and efficient after-sales service a top priority. Seven SMG200 motor graders, a number of SSR120 rollers and five SPR200 rollers have been used on the project.
On February 3, 2014, one of the motor graders had an issue during construction. SANY’s service engineers in Thailand were contacted and they arrived on site to conduct a machine inspection immediately. The service team provided timely and reliable service. The machine was fully operational within a week. At this time, the motor graders have completed the first stage of the project and exceeded 3,000 hours of operation. SANY machinery has made a significant contribution to Thailand's national railway station and has received praise from Unique’s representatives. They are impressed with the timeliness and reliability of SANY's after-sales service. Unique plans to do more business with SANY in the future.
